Below you will find a complete list of our appointment, inpatient, and outpatient services for your pet. Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability.
Annual physical examinations by one of our veterinarians will allow us detect early signs of potential problems before they become costly for you and painful for your pet. During your pet's comprehensive nose-to-tail exam, the veterinarian will listen to the heart and lungs, discuss oral hygiene and weight management, and much more.
Second Opinion Exams
We understand that sometimes clients feel more comfortable with more than one veterinarian's medical opinion. We are not a specialty hospital and will refer you to one if our veterinarians think that it is necessary. However, if you would like a second opinion from one of our experienced veterinarians, we would be more than happy to do so. All that we ask is that you call ahead of time so that we can request the records from your previous veterinarian for review.
Referrals and Advising
We work very closely with specialty clinics in the area. If your pet's health requires more in-depth diagnostic testing or treatment beyond our capabilities, we will help you every step of the way in finding a solution for your pet.
We perform spays, neuters, emergency, and other non-emergency surgeries. Covina Animal Hospital is equipped with a sterile surgical suite and provides laser surgery for less pain, bleeding, and swelling during procedures.
Just like us, pets need dental care. At Covina Animal Hospital we have a separate surgical suite dedicated to anesthetic dental cleanings and procedures. During dental surgeries, our doctors and surgical technicians perform a thorough cleaning above and below the gum line with the use of our digital X-Ray technology, followed by a refreshing teeth polishing.
Should your pet need it, our team of doctors and technicians will be able to monitor your loved one's critical health during the daytime hours.
Emergency & Urgent Care
We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty six days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet needs. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such as accidental ingestion of chocolate, hit by a car, a bee sting, or trauma from a fight with another animal. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment, do not hesitate to call or come in immediately.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will try their best to see your pet between their scheduled appointments. If you call ahead, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate as to how long you may have to wait to see a veterinarian.
We provide the latest technology in digital radiography, giving our clients clearer images and instant results.
Full in-house lab equipment for many tests gives instant results. For other lab services, results are acquired in less than 24 hours and are interpreted by your veterinarian.
Our facility is equipped with an ultrasound machine that can help in diagnosing your pet's illness.
Cats and dogs have allergies just like us. Whether they are caused by environment, food, or bug bites like fleas & ticks, our team of doctors are constantly staying up to date in the latest treatments and therapies to help soothe your itchy pet.
For pets experiencing joint pain, inflammation, or an injury, laser therapy is a wonderful treatment option. It provides a pain-free, surgery-free experience using wavelengths of light to stimulate the body's natural healing process.
Acupuncture is a form of Eastern medicine that has been practiced in both humans and animals for thousands of years. It is a safe, non-invasive procedure involving the insertion of sterile needles into specific points on the body for a therapeutic effect. In combination with herbal medicine and food therapy, acupuncture is successful in treating many conditions such as joint pain, neurological disorders, allergies, and internal diseases (liver disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders, etc).
Emergencies are accepted until one hour before our closing time and when our doctors are able to accommodate them in their appointment schedule. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us and come in immediately. If possible, it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency and we can prepare for your pet ahead of time.
Walk ins are accepted on a case-by-case basis. Upon check in, a technician will evaluate your pet and determine the urgency of the situation. If it is not considered an emergency, we will either fit you into the next available appointment or refer you to a nearby clinic with a shorter wait time. If it is an emergency, we will have a doctor see your pet right away to stabilize them and determine the next steps of care.
If you have an exotic, pocket pet, or avian family member who is in need of medical assistance, do not hesitate to call us and we can refer you to a qualified veterinarian in your area.
